Campaign year closes strong

As 2016 comes to a close, ENGAGE: The Campaign for Cleveland State University is closing in on its $100 million goal. The CSU Foundation is pleased to report that more than $92 million has been raised. Thank you to everyone who is supporting student success through ENGAGE. Tax-deductible year-end gifts, made by December 31, will bring us even closer to our goal.

$1 million anonymous gift supports GRHD

The generous gift will fund scholarships, post-doctoral fellowships, pilot and bridge research needs and equipment needs, and will be instrumental in attracting additional private and public investment to further expand and strengthen the Center's research portfolio. Full story

Endowed scholarship supports Ready-to-Go engineers

Annie Champa, widow of alumnus Bernard "Bernie" Champa, BSME '60, describes her late husband as a "short-sleeve engineer," meaning he was a hands-on sort of professional. Full story

Charitable gift annuity funds nursing scholarship

A 1949 graduate of Fenn College, Lucille DeRoia Lang says her fondest memory is being the only female in chemistry, physics and math classes and often being asked, "Are you in the right class, girlie?" Full story

IRA funds medical education

Like many graduates, Eugene Trela used his education and skills to build a successful career as the owner of the Fowler Company – growing the firm's size and reputation as a high-value, high-quality electrical contractor. Full story

Estate planning benefits CSU

Sometimes support for CSU and its students comes from unexpected sources. Richard and Lela Schier, a Bay Village couple, had no direct affiliation with the University but strongly believed in the power of higher education. Full story
