CSU Marketing Campaign Recognized Again

CSU receives distinguished awards from the International Creativity Group and local AIGA for Engage CSU marketing campaign

Cleveland State University and its advertising firm flourish Inc. received 12 awards for their new marketing campaign from the International Creativity Awards Competition and the American Institute of Graphic Arts 2011 Cleveland Design Exhibition. The International Creativity Awards presented CSU with awards for its work on the CSU Admit Kit and for the web design of www.engagecsu.com site. AIGA presented CSU with 10 other awards for its new poster campaign.

"The marketing work at CSU continues to receive industry recognition from well respected competitions. For a university to be at the top of the list in design competitions is very uncommon," said Assistant Vice President for University Marketing Rob Spademan. "Our award-winning campaign with flourish has helped us achieve an 18-year enrollment high and record attendance at our Open House events, while attracting the interest of higher quality students based on ACT scores and overall GPA's."

The AIGA Cleveland Design Competition is held every two years. This year CSU was one of roughly 250 entries. The eight, two-dimensional designs that received recognition were the CSU Engage Posters: Urban Renewal, Sail Boat, Roof Top Garden, Vending Machine, Plug-in, Rain Drops, Geometric and a Cleveland-Marshall College of Law booklet. The two, three-dimensional awards for CSU were the new CSU Wolstein Center Wayfinding system and the newly designed CSU Welcome Center.

Different from the AIGA competition, the International Creativity Awards are held annually. The competition includes six judges selected every year. One judge is selected from an east coast agency, west coast agency, international agency, freelancers, educators, and creative directors.
