Cleveland State University Recognized for Diversity and Inclusion Efforts
Commission 50

Cleveland State University has been recognized as one of the top 50 organizations in Northeast Ohio for its progress in creating, enhancing and sustaining diversity and inclusion strategies. The Commission on Economic Inclusion, a division of the Greater Cleveland Partnership, named the first Commission 50 leading organizations based on their annual employers' surveys.

The survey scores include four metrics for diversity: the organization's board of trustees, senior management, workforce and suppliers. The Commission member organizations (25 for profit and 25 nonprofit or governmental) with the highest combined scores will receive this distinguished designation each year.

"Cleveland State has a unique responsibility to advance diversity while enriching the campus with educational experiences that enhance race and human relations on campus and in the community," said Njeri Nuru-Holm, CSU's vice president for Institutional Diversity. "Cleveland State is the most diverse public university in Ohio and noted for its multicultural initiatives, including 200 courses with a cultural or ethnic focus."

Created in 2000, the Commission on Economic Inclusion is a broad-based coalition of more than 100 Northeast Ohio employers committed to making the region's diversity a source of economic strength. Commission members have a combined workforce of nearly 200,000 individuals in Northeast Ohio and more than 575,000 employees throughout the United Sates. The Commission serves as a catalyst for advancing economic inclusion in the Northeast Ohio business community.
