Cleveland State University Names Vice President for Enrollment Services

Cleveland State University President Ronald Berkman has appointed 30-year enrollment management veteran Carmen A. Brown to vice president for enrollment services, effective July 1.

"Carmen is a proven leader with the expertise to promote student success at CSU," Berkman said. "We are committed to providing all of our students with an exceptional college experience, and Carmen has demonstrated this commitment throughout her career and at two separate urban universities."

In this role, Brown will serve as the University's chief administrator, responsible for student recruitment, retention and graduation. She will work to continue CSU's trend of improving the academic competitiveness of incoming freshmen and promote programs related to career transition. Brown will also play a key role in growing the partnerships that CSU has established with other area colleges to ensure smooth transferability and high academic standards.

"We look forward to Carmen's expertise in helping students succeed academically and beyond college," Berkman added. "I believe that VP Brown will accelerate our quest to develop new and innovative ways to help our students achieve their goals."

Brown joins CSU from the University of New Mexico, where she has served as vice president for enrollment management since 2008. Prior to that, she served as assistant vice president for enrollment management at Florida International University, where she previously acted as director of admissions for 27 years.

Brown earned her bachelor's and master's degrees from Florida International University.
