Old Money, New Riches: Lunchtime Bank Tour
Tuesday September 8, 2015

Cleveland's long banking history began when the city was no more than a frontier village, with the first institutions founded before the Civil War. By the turn of the 20th century, Cleveland was a major industrial power, with more than half of the country's millionaires living here. Visit two grand old bank buildings built to reflect the city's stature. Enjoy a tour of these venerable structures and a visit to the Money Museum (sorry, no free samples!).

Did you know? In 1914, Cleveland was chosen as one of the nation's 12 Federal Reserve cities.

Cuyahoga River Restoration Tour: From Burning to Beautiful
Sunday, September 13, 10:00 a.m.

Iroquoian for "crooked river," the 85-mile Cuyahoga River was once most famous for catching fire in 1969. Today, it is designated as one of America's Heritage Rivers and is a magnet for wildlife, recreation and tourism.

Learn how we can all revitalize and make the river even healthier as we cruise on the Holiday, a privately restored boat. Once back on land, enjoy an exclusive Vikings gathering at Merwin's Wharf overlooking the Cuyahoga River at Irishtown Bend.

10:00 a.m. – Noon
River tour with CSU alumnus Peter Bode, '12, aboard the Holiday As the Watershed Coordinator for Cuyahoga River Restoration, Peter will discuss current efforts of his organization and its partners to restore and revitalize the Cuyahoga River.

Enjoy light appetizers with your fellow Vikings and hear from the Green Ribbon Coalition, the first citizens advocacy coalition focused on expanding public access to Cleveland's lakefront and developing a "ribbon of green" along the length of Lake Erie in Ohio and neighboring lakefront states.

Upstairs and Downstairs at Stan Hywet
Friday, October 9, 10:30 a.m.

Stan Hywet Hall is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2015. From the opulence of the Manor House to the living and working quarters of the domestic staff, get a true "upstairs/downstairs" look into this historic estate.

10:30 a.m. – Noon
Be transported back into the lives of the wealthy Seiberling family on this guided Manor House tour. The 64,500-square-foot mansion contains 23 fireplaces, 21,455 panes of glass and 95 percent of the furnishings are original to the home.

Noon – 1:00 p.m.
Enjoy lunch on your own at the Carriage House.

1:00 – 2:30 p.m.
Take an exclusive guided behind-the-scenes tour of the living and working quarters of the estate's domestic staff.

As an added bonus, the CSU tour will feature a Stan Hywet Quest and Geocaching experience — a scavenger hunt using GPS clues.

When both guided tours and lunch are complete, CSU alumni and friends are welcome to explore the Corbin Conservatory, Carriage House, Gardens and the Gate Lodge (birthplace of Alcoholics Anonymous) on their own

The Ghosts's of Cleveland's Past and Present - A Haunted Walking Tour
Tuesday, October 27, 7:00 p.m.

Prepare to be frightened on this Ghosts and Graveyards walking tour into Cleveland's grisly, ghastly past. Hear about Civil War ghosts as you tiptoe through Erie Street cemetery, chill at details of the Torso Murders, and shudder (or smile) at spooky folklore surrounding Mather Mansion and Grays Armory. Join us…if you dare.

On this haunted stroll through Cleveland, each stop is more frightening than the last!

Vikings Super Bowl at the Pro Football Hall of Fame
Friday, November 6, 10:15 a.m.

Get in the game with Cleveland State alumni and friends at the Pro Football Hall of Fame! The Story of Pro Football presentation will share insights about the museum, its architecture and its constantly changing exhibits, artifacts and historical documents. You'll learn about Northeast Ohio's historic ties to pro football and why the Hall of Fame is located in Canton, Ohio.

Following the presentation, you will have an opportunity to tour the Hall of Fame on your own. You won't want to miss the Lamar Hunt Super Bowl Gallery, where you will see dynamic displays featuring one-of-a-kind artifacts and experience game highlights with extreme video presentations. Enjoy a half-time sandwich and beverage at the Tailgate Snack Bar with your food voucher.

Cost includes admission, $8 Tailgate Snack Bar food voucher, self-guided tour of the museum, parking and a special presentation exclusively for CSU alumni and friends.

The Value of Nature at the Botanical Garden
Friday, December 4, 10:15 a.m.

Begin your holiday celebration by getting back to nature with an educational and glowing visit to the Cleveland Botanical Garden.

10:15 – 11:15 a.m.
Alumni and friends will enjoy a special presentation by one of the Botanical Garden's expert horticulturists on the topic of the Therapeutic Value of Nature.

11:15 a.m. A Botanical Garden staff member will lead the group on a tour of the gardens and the climate-controlled Glasshouse, home to 350 species of exotic plants and 50 different types of butterflies, birds, reptiles and amphibians.

After the tour, enjoy Glow, the Garden's winter spectacular featuring thousands of dazzling lights, whimsical gingerbread houses, a Wishing Tree and more.
